Who We Are

The Timberland Drive Church of Christ is a group of believers who share a common salvation in Jesus Christ.  We seek to live, worship, and love one another as God directs in His holy Word, the Bible.  We strive to be Christians and Christians only.

Come See!

After Jesus called Philip, Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”  To Philip this was a truth worth having and worth sharing. If he was right, the consequences of his discovery would be not just “life-changing,” but eternal.  However, Nathanael was reluctant to believe, so Philip replied, “Come and see.”   (John 1:43-46)

Like Philip, we wish to share what we believe to be the “life-changing” and “eternal” truth; we invite you to “come see!”  We thank you for your interest and invite you to investigate further the Timberland Drive church of Christ. It is our desire to teach and practice New Testament Christianity in a 21st century setting.

The Good News

The Gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ is proclaimed by the Timberland Drive Church of Christ.  Our worship exalts God and invites you to draw near to Him.  Our Bible classes and preaching show that His Word is relevant to your life.  Christ offers:

A Purposeful Life
Life must have meaning to be worthwhile.  Christ can instruct you in the things that matter most in life and bring order to your world.  Find Christ and you will find life.

Forgiveness of Sins
There is no burden like sin and the guilt imposed by sin; it can damage your self-esteem, depress your spirit, destroy your personality, and damn your soul to Hell.  Repentance and remission of sins is the message and offer of the gospel.  In Christ you can become a new creature.  Forgiveness of sins is the next best thing to having never done wrong.

Moral Values
God’s Word is Truth.  Its commandments are righteous, and its precepts are binding.  Practice it to be holy; follow it to exert a positive influence on friends, family, and neighbors.

Membership in God’s Family
Those who obey the gospel and remain faithful to Christ, regardless of  race or gender, are accepted at Timberland Drive.  It is a fellowship where love for one another abounds and is seen in friendly dispositions and deeds.  Every member is important!

The Hope of Heaven
Life in Heaven is God’s promise to the faithful.  Tears will be dried and joys will be eternal.  The hope of eternal life in Heaven can free you from the fear of death and sustain you during earth’s trials. Enjoy life while you are on earth, but make Heaven your eternal home.

Love, Joy and Peace

The world worries; Christians cast their cares on Christ.  Find comfort for your soul and serenity in life.

An Opportunity for Spiritual Growth and Service

The Christian’s quest is to become more Christ-like and to serve God, Christ, and one’s fellow-man better.  We at Timberland Drive are dedicated to helping you become the best and most useful Christian you can be.

A Church at Work in Christ

Evangelistic Efforts
Timberland Drive supports two local evangelists, aids in the support of several other evangelists throughout the United States and in foreign countries, conducts at least two Gospel meetings each year, maintains an informative Web page, and offers free sermon tapes/CDs/DVDs, home Bible studies, and Bible correspondence courses upon request.  Members are encouraged to share the gospel with others.

Elders and Deacons
Presently, four elders oversee the spiritual welfare of the church, and twelve deacons serve the needs of the congregation including some whose duties are to look after the widows of the church.

Bible Classes
Well organized and well prepared classes are designed to teach the Word of God and to promote daily Bible reading and family Bible studies.  There are classes for the young and old, including two adult classes, and a class for parents. In addition, we have an Annual Vacation Bible School with classes for all ages, including adult classes.

Good Works

We are blessed to have members who are involved in good works. Careful attention is given to those who are sick or bereaved.  Efforts are made to send visitors cards and to visit them when convenient.  Presently, devotional services are periodically conducted at local retirement centers, and in the homes of members.

In addition to singing in our Sunday services, the first Wednesday night of each month is devoted to singing.  Any faithful male member who wishes may lead the congregation in a song on this occasion.  Timberland Drive is blessed with song leaders and members who enjoy singing.

Timberland Drive Church of Christ enjoys peace, harmony and growth in Christ.

Ask Questions!

We encourage people to “search the scriptures” to see if the things they see practiced and hear taught at Timberland Drive are taught in the Bible.  Your questions are welcomed.  Contact us by phone (936) 634-7110 or e-mail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Get Acquainted!

Our members are friendly; we want to get to know you, encourage you, and share Christ with you.

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

No question is more important than this. We make many important decisions in life regarding matters such as education, marriage, and occupation. But none is as transcending as that which affects our soul's eternity (Matt. 16:26).

"Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?"

Luke 9:23-25
